ClearScore Appoints New GM for Australia and New Zealand

The ClearScore Group today announced the appointment of Debbie Wine as its new General Manager (GM) for Australia and New Zealand, based out of its Sydney office. Debbie joins the group from Westpac, having also held leadership roles at Citi, Commonwealth Bank and more recently been CMO at Buy Now Pay Later fintech, Zip.

The appointment is a further step in ClearScore’s global expansion plans. With 30% of ClearScore’s 22 million users being based outside of the UK, operations now span the UK, Canada, South Africa, as well as Australia and New Zealand. ClearScore is the number one credit score app in these markets, and in line with demand, the company now has over 400 employees, in addition to more than 150 partners including credit bureaus, banks, credit card companies, lenders, insurance providers and fintechs.

UK-based ClearScore launched in Australia in 2020 with a free credit report to help users achieve greater financial wellbeing. In March 2023, it partnered with illion, one of Australasia’s leading credit bureaus, to provide Australian users with ‘dual bureau’ credit data to add to that already available via Experian. ClearScore subsequently launched in New Zealand in June last year and is rapidly becoming the number one source of free credit reports in both markets, with a combined 1.6m users across the region.

Justin Basini, Group CEO and Co-founder said: “We’re very excited to have Debbie join ClearScore at a time when we have been experiencing very strong growth in Australia and New Zealand. Her leadership will help us scale even more rapidly and become the number one credit score provider and financial marketplace.

ClearScore continues its strategy of further international expansion outside of the UK. Debbie brings a huge amount of experience across customer engagement, data, strategy, marketing and product in financial services that will help us become the first place people turn when they want to understand and master their borrowing.”

Debbie Wine, GM for ANZ said: “ClearScore has come a long way in Australia and New Zealand in only four years and I’m delighted to come on board now to spearhead the next phase of our growth. There is a critical role for us to play helping people make better financial decisions and save money, and I look forward to working closely with our lender partners to provide our users with the best credit products.”
