FinTech Australia announces line up for Intersekt 2023
One of the key architects of Australia’s Consumer Data Right, Scott Farell and Afterpay executive Anthony Eisen will headline this year’s FinTech Australia Intersekt conference.
The event, held at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on August 30 and 31, will tackle major themes in the sector, including AI and increasing importance of social impact in fintech. It will also address key issues in payments, regtech, crypto, banking and the consumer data right.
“This year’s event is shaping up to be our most interesting to date.” FinTech Australia General Manager Rehan D'Almeida said.
“There are so many trends and macro factors affecting the fintech industry. We’re seeing the rise of AI, Australia potentially tipping into a recession and rising interest rates all affect our fintechs.”
“Intersekt will serve as a crucial event to take stock of it all, and help fintechs navigate this truly fascinating, but equally challenging, period.“
Intersekt hosted over 900 delegates in 2022 -- up from 800 the previous year. Over 280 startups, 280 corporate companies and 40 government agencies attended the event.
“Last year, we bought the venue to capacity. There was a waiting list for tickets weeks before the event. We’re urging all in the industry who would like to attend to register early this year to avoid disappointment. We are also expecting a larger international delegation this year, with interested parties from the UK, Singapore, New Zealand, Canada, India and Hong Kong” D'Almeida said.
Intersekt will feature two full days of fireside chats, presentations and discussion of major themes in the sector. In addition, the event will host a third stage this year for Master Classes and deep-dive analysis content aimed at educating business leaders.
In partnership with The University of Sydney, global financial infrastructure platform for businesses Stripe, will also be unveiling brand new research on the future of digital payments in Australia at the event.
“This year’s Intersekt looks set to be the biggest yet and I look forward to being amongst the best and brightest of our nation’s fintech ecosystem to discuss all that’s happened over the past year. I’m especially excited to unveil Stripe’s latest research on payment trends across Australia to ensure businesses of all sizes are best equipped with the tools and knowledge to future-proof their ventures.” Karl Durrance, Managing Director, Australia and New Zealand, at Stripe said.
D'Almeida added: “Intersekt would not be possible without the support of our partners, in particular our Gold Sponsors, Stripe and BC Payments as well as our Presenting Partner the State Government of Victoria, as part of the Digital Innovation Futures initiative. We also want to thank our Silver Partners Xero, Australian Payments Plus and Ekata.”
Registration for Intersekt has opened and is available via the event’s website.
