FinTech Australia is pleased to launch its inaugural national FinTech Summit, FinTech Australia Collab / Collide 2016, in partnership with LaunchVic and the Victorian Government. Australia’s national FinTech Summit curated with and for the Australian FinTech community
The inaugural FinTech Summit will be held in Melbourne in November 2016, and will be the leading conference and networking event for the FinTech Industry in Australia.
Victorian Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade, Philip Dalidakis stated, “We want Victoria to be the location of choice for startups across the Asia Pacific Region and LaunchVic is making it happen. FinTech Australia’s inaugural FinTech Summit will help young companies and ideas develop to create jobs and industries that will support Victoria for decades to come.”
Organised by the national industry body FinTech Australia, Collab / Collide 2016 will be a key knowledge-exchange platform among market players to find solutions to implement, and promote best innovative FinTech practices in a collaborative, open and transparent manner.
Collab / Collide 2016 will bring the whole FinTech Ecosystem together – Startups, Corporates, Government and Regulators – through a two day conference and launch of a national awards program.
Day 1 will involve the wider community, everyone involved in the FinTech space – startups, financial institutions, eco-system partners, investors and government agencies.
Day 2 will be closed and targeted to the startup community to connect on a deeper level through round tables, streamed discussions, workshops and masterclasses.
A range of leading local and international speakers have already been confirmed, including top global FinTech Influencer Chris Gledhill (@cgledhill, Co-Founder / CEO of Secco Bank), Danny Gilligan (@dannygilligan, Co-Founder of Reinventure and Data Republic) and local FinTech Melbourne Meetup champion Charlotte Petris (@charpetris, Co-Founder / CEO of Timelio, FinTech Australia Vice President and representative on Treasury’s FinTech Advisory Group).

Pradeep Philip, CEO of LaunchVic, stated that “LaunchVic and the Victorian Government are delighted to support FinTech Australia’s inaugural FinTech Summit as part of the first round of funding LaunchVic is providing to support the startup ecosystem. We can’t think of a better way to support the vitally important fintech industry, and boost economic growth in Victoria.”
Stuart Stoyan, founder and CEO of MoneyPlace and FinTech Australia Board member stated “Melbourne has the world’s largest fintech meetup group outside of the UK and the US, so it is great to see the first FinTech Summit hosted in Melbourne. Minister Dalidakis and the Victorian Government have been strong supporters of the fintech community, and this is one of several fintech initiatives supported by LaunchVic”.
Danielle Szetho, CEO of FinTech Australia said “With our recent move to join the Global FinTech Hub Federation, it is the perfect time for Australia to connect its national FinTech community and define its identity in the international marketplace. Australia’s fintech ecosystem is transforming at a rapid pace, and the summit in Melbourne will be a fantastic opportunity for the industry to focus on translating this early momentum into success for our startups and solid economic growth.”
